The agentic development environment.
From the IDE to the ADE
IDE integrated development environment
IDEs are made for hand crafting, with numerous panels and a steep learning curve. In agentic workflows, the chat does most of the work, yet the editor still takes the middle of the screen and the chat gets a narrow pane at the edge.
ADE agentic development environment
Emaki turns this around, and we call it ADE. The agent chat takes the main space, and the sidebar groups your sessions under their projects. The rest stays hidden until you need it: the files and a terminal in panels at the chat’s sides, and in its margins the outline and your agent’s own CLI.
Get started
Download the app and install an agent to get started. You can also install Git and the GitHub CLI for version control.
Download Emaki
For macOS, Windows and Linux.
Install the agents
Emaki works with Claude Code and Codex.
Git (optional)
Install Git and the GitHub CLI to commit, branch and push from Emaki.
Main system
Sessions are listed and managed under their projects. The agent chat takes the main space, rendered in high quality.
Projects
All sessions on Emaki are project-based. Toggle on a project from your sidebar to see its agent sessions. The leading logo tells you which agent it belongs to. You can quickly create, resume, archive, or delete your session(s).
Chats
Agent responses are nicely rendered. The artifacts, subagents, Q&A sessions, and background tasks are all taken care of with a smooth UI. The composer supports grammar check, @ and / commands, and instant toggling among your available models, modes, and efforts.
Panels
Two panels stand at the chat’s sides, hidden until you need them, since they are essential but used less often than the chat: the files at the left and a terminal at the right, each from a button at an end of the strip over the chat.
Files ⌘⇧F
The Files Panel provides a file tree with Catppuccin icons. You can live-render, preview, and edit your files. Most major file types are supported. With the git system, you can view git changes on the file tree and trigger git commands with an intuitive UI.
Margins
On each side of the agent chat, you can hover and toggle 2 more panels. The left margin gives you the outline panel with quick jumping and summarizing; the right margin lets you switch between the rendered UI and the original CLI.
Outline ⌘⇧O
In agent sessions, going through the history is a pain. Emaki’s Outline is a drawer at the chat’s left: every round, labeled by what came of it, and a summary of the session when you ask for one, so you can quickly go through and locate them.
Agent CLI ⌘⇧L
If you need the original CLI of your agent session, this is it. The Agent CLI takes the chat’s place, from a seam in the chat’s right margin, with keyboard commands and mouse scrolling. Responding in it is equivalent to responding in the chat.
